Supporting The Family Farm
After applying in early 2006 for non-profit status, The Family Farm of Ozaukee County Foundation, Inc. has become a reality! This means a great deal to the future of The Family Farm. This status allows friends of the farm to make tax-deductible donations and allows the Foundation to apply for grants to improve the Farm. It also helps assure the longevity of the farm. The owners are not ‘spring chickens’ anymore and want the farm to continue in perpetuity for generations to come.
When you and your friends and family, school chums or fellow scouts have visited the Farm, remember the fun you had? How much you learned? Visiting all the barnyard animals, the inviting nature walk, the rollicking hay romp and learning how farming was done 100 years ago? These are the memories we want to continue for others, for a long time.
If you wish to donate to keep The Family Farm going for another century, direct your tax deductible donation to: The Family Farm of Ozaukee County Foundation, Inc., Cornerstone Community Bank, PO Box 146, 2090 Wisconsin Avenue, Grafton, Wisconsin 53024. Thank you! |

The 2007 Barn Fire
March 20, 2007
On Saturday March 10, at 12:30 pm the The Family Farm suffered a devastating fire. Flames devoured our beautiful centerpiece barn, without effort, in minutes. Over sixty volunteer firefighters worked to spare anything. As luck would have it, the Admission Barn and Granary which could have been lost entirely, were damaged but saved through their skill. All the animals were outdoors in the corral that afternoon to enjoy the sunny spring weather. However, 15 birds whom we couldn't get out of the barn in time, started to quack and squawk after living 4 hours through smoke, flaming cinders and water. All are alive and well, with the exception of a peahen who has flown the coop.
We are very fortunate - no one was injured, all animals survived and we are safe. We are ever so grateful for the support of so many family members, friends and farm visitors. Now, we approach the re-building process.
We will update this website and our answering machine as progress continues. We hope to open in mid to late June. Please put our site on a 'bookmark' and refer to it for news.
Sincerely,
Marko and Jane Musich |
